We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Environmental department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for an EHS Representative. The work schedule is 1500 - 2300.
Security Clearance:

With minimum supervision, the Health & Safety (HS) Inspector should be able to provide Health and Safety guidance and support to the workforce. Ensures that the Company maintains compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES- Education and experience are both taken into consideration
- Typically has a High School diploma or GED; with typical 4 years of directly related experience or AS Degree in related EHS field.
- Must have some working knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health (OSHA) 1915 and 1910.
- A minimum of three years of experience performing the duties of a Safety Inspector.
- A minimum of three years of full-time experience directly related to safety enforcement and related duties comparable to a Safety Inspector in industrial or commercial plants and/or construction sites.
- Continuing education in approved Health and Safety related courses towards a Professional Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
- Must have, or be able to complete and pass, courses including;
1) OSHA 3095,
2) OSHA 5410, and
3) Shipyard Competent Person. - Must be able to handle stressful situations that arise.
Must be able to access all Navy installations and other shipyards. Must be able to enter confined spaces, work at heights and in confining or restricted spaces aboard vessels under construction/repair. Daily inspections require entering confined spaces, climbing ladders, working at heights, walking on scaffolding, observing use of tools and operation of equipment/machinery. Physical dexterity must allow for bending, reaching, climbing, crawling, and working on ladders and scaffolding.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of weight. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to vapors, gases, dust, welding/burning fumes, and smoke. Must be able to spend up to 90% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. The noise level is usually moderate to extremely noisy 90% of the time, which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering.
REQUIREMENTS
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. A vision exam is required every ten (10) years to ensure:
Natural or corrected near-distance visual acuity in at least one eye able to read the J-1 letters on Standard Jaeger Test Chart, or equivalent, at a distance of not less than: 12 inches (30 cm) with one or both eyes, corrected or uncorrected. Color perception using the Ishihara Test or the Farnsworth D-15 Test. If a candidate does not pass the Red/Green Sensitive Ishihara Test, the candidate shall take the Farnsworth D-15 Test.
If the individual does not pass the Farnsworth D-15 Test, the inspector must be evaluated by a licensed medical practitioner to provide the necessary data to determine the inspector’s color perception. Individuals certified after an evaluation by a licensed medical practitioner shall only be certified to perform inspection work that is within the inspector’s color perception capability. The examinations required by above shall be administered by, or under the cognizant of, a licensed medical practitioner and documented on the vision test record.
