Submarine Technician - ISIS/RADAR
Seeking a Submarine Technician to join our Portsmouth, Virginia team. You will provide technical evaluation, perform installation, testing and certification of AN/BVY-1 (ISIS) and AN/BPS (15,16,17) (RADAR) systems in accordance with NAVSEA installation procedures, onboard all classes of submarines. Assist DoD personnel with the required corrective actions for those systems in accordance with DoD and Navy Maintenance Procedures; and provide support in a variety of engineering tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, operation of systems in accordance with engineering specifications.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Install, monitor, and service ISIS and RADAR equipment and systems at various Naval locations
- Perform validations/verifications of various electronic systems
- Review change proposals for equipment impacts
- Assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions
- Develop technical/engineering data for Planned Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements
- Establish and maintain a filing system, databases, and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory
- Provide support to engineering and design staff in a variety of engineering tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems in accordance with engineering specifications
- Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, and system specifications and test procedures.
- Provide technical data and evaluation for components installation, equipment maintenance and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout and contract requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance.
Note:
US Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret Clearance. - High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years of practical experience OR degree/formal training and three (3) years experience. (Degree/Formal Training is defined as:
Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from:
Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program.) - Practical experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and/or repair of Submarine C5I systems/equipment.
- Experience in the maintenance/repair and/or installation disciplines.
- Experience in design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
- Ability to travel up to 40%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess knowledge and experience across multiple submarine platforms and SWFTS systems.
- Experience with network configuration and BYG-1 combat control systems
- Possess Integrated Submarine Imaging System (ISIS) Alteration Installation Technician experience.
- Bachelors degree
