THOR Solutions is actively seeking an experienced Engineering Technician (Electrical) with U.S. Navy shipboard experience to provide full-time support for U.S. Naval auxiliary equipment at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA
.
The candidate's responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following actions:
- Provide Full-Time Onsite Support as well as Surge Support as tasked for the following Code 252 cognizant equipment.
- Conduct Fleet Technical Assistance on-site or via distance support as required, to include engineering/technical evaluations, equipment functional checks, troubleshooting, test, analysis and equipment repairs as tasked.
- Conduct Assessments, Inspections, and Grooms determining equipment condition and out of specification settings; observe operation of the equipment by ship's force to witness the full range of performance, when possible; utilize appropriate measuring equipment to obtain data for evaluation; evaluate findings and make adjustments and repairs to the maximum extent possible during the time available.
- Provide Onboard Maintenance Training (OBMT) to Ship's Force technicians in the operation, repair, and maintenance. The contractor shall perform/provide support during shipboard gas turbine systems tasking including TSRA, INSURV and Tech Assist events.
- Analyze and review inspection data to determine source of fault, and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
- Report findings/discrepancies as required to the designated Team Leader and/or Branch Head of MARMC 252 via Material Assessment Form (MAF), Prisms/ETC Software, TAAS-Info, debrief and/or Technical Assistance Visit Report (TAVR) within two working days of completion of task.
Onsite at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA.
Typical Physical Activity:Mix of desk/computer work in an office environment and visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g. confined spaces, ladders, hatches), or vision.
Travel:Up to 10% travel is anticipated.
Typical Pay Range:The anticipated pay for this position in the identified location(s) is $37.68/hour. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience. This position is covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA) and will additionally receive $5.09/hour in "health and welfare" benefits.
Existing SECRET SecurityClearance Required:
This position requires an existing active or interim Secret security clearance prior to hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position. A candidate without a clearance but with highly relevant experience may be considered, but still must obtain a clearance prior to hire.
Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- High school diploma/GED equivalent or a relevant U.S. Navy technical school diploma.
- A minimum five (5) years (accumulated within the last seven (7) years) of demonstrated, specialized, hands-on experience and proof of expertise operating, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and assessing US Navy Auxiliary equipment including, but not limited to, Electrical Controllers, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), A/C Electrical Controls, Refrigeration System Controls, Air Compressor Controls, MRG dehumidifiers, Sonar Dome DEPI Gages.
- Demonstrated experience working in the official capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the afore mentioned systems/equipment/components for a US Navy Engineering Activity, US Navy Shipboard Engineering Department, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), or industrial/commercial equivalent is also required.
- Must be proficient using general and special purpose electronic test equipment to perform organizational level maintenance.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits.
- Demonstrate regularly using accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment.
