Description
We are in search of talented and experienced Individual Tax Reviewers for the upcoming 2027 tax season. The Tax Reviewer will review complicated individual tax returns prepared by junior level staff, provide feedback and guidance, and may compile and present training materials to others in the department. This position does not involve client contact.
Responsibilities- Utilize departmental systems and software to review tax returns prepared by junior staff using CCH Axcess.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of tax returns by referring to prior year tax documents.
- Follow all federal, state, and local tax laws and perform research when necessary.
- Escalate complex tax issues to a manager for counsel when appropriate.
- Utilize practice management software for workflow and client billing.
- Provide guidance and training to tax preparers on new and/or complicated tax topics.
- Attend department meetings via Microsoft Teams.
- High School Diploma.
- At least 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience within a CPA firm or tax preparation company.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Sure Prep.
- Strong interpersonal skills to serve as a subject matter expert in reviewer role, providing answers and resolutions to escalated calls.
- Ability to attend training during the 4th week of January 2027.
- Ability to work part‑time in January through February, then a consistent schedule 6 to 7 days per week through April 15th.
- CPA or EA preferred but not required.
Estimated pay range for this role is $37–$83 per hour, depending on skills, experience, and geographic location.
