Industry: Wealth Management / Registered Investment Advisory (RIA)

Our client, a well-established and growing Registered Investment Advisory firm, is seeking a Trader to join its Trading Department. This is a full‑time, in‑office role based in Norfolk, Virginia, offering a unique opportunity to play a hands‑on role in portfolio management and the firm's overall investment process. This position goes beyond a traditional execution‑only trading role. The Trader will support both the Trading Department and Portfolio Managers, with responsibility for trade execution, oversight of client portfolios—particularly in fixed income strategies—and participation in investment analysis, committee support, and market commentary.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced environment, brings strong technical and communication skills, and is eager to contribute to a collaborative, high‑performing team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor portfolio performance and implement adjustments to optimize client outcomes
  • Proactively manage client fixed income portfolios
  • Support equity and fixed income trading activities
  • Conduct regular account reviews to ensure alignment with client objectives and investment goals
  • Prepare and present insights on portfolio positioning, performance, and market trends in firm meetings
  • Provide support to the Investment Committee across various initiatives
  • Assist with additional trading and investment‑related duties as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in an investment‑related role
  • CFA candidates strongly preferred
  • Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven, high‑performance environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Fact Set, Morningstar, or similar financial platforms preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Why This Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated investment professional to gain exposure across multiple aspects of the investment process within a close‑knit team. The role offers meaningful responsibility, visibility within the organization, and the chance to contribute directly to the firm's continued growth and success.
