OverviewThe primary objective of this position is to ensure all payroll transactions completed by the Payroll Staff, University Departments, and University Employees comply with applicable Federal laws, State laws, and University policies and procedures each pay period.
Responsibilities- Ensure all payroll transactions comply with applicable Federal, State, and University policies and procedures each pay period.
- Review payroll work of others for accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain and update payroll compliance documentation.
- Enter and manipulate data and produce reports in database software.
- Work independently, prioritize work, and complete tasks with minimum supervision.
- Working knowledge of payroll policies, procedures, and processing activities.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Effective customer service and excellent problem‑resolution skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with database software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to perform complex mathematical computations.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Considerable experience in a payroll environment and experience computing wages and overtime calculations.
- Knowledge of state payroll policies and procedures; experience with Banner Software.
- Background in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Overtime may be required during peak periods.
- Position is designated as sensitive; fingerprint‑based criminal history check required.
Salary commensurate with education and experience and begins at $40,000.
