Assistant Director of Financial Aid Operations

Old Dominion University is hiring an Assistant Director of Financial Aid Operations. This role leads fiscal and loan operations within the Financial Aid Office by supervising staff, managing federal and institutional fund administration, overseeing cash management and disbursement controls, and ensuring compliance with loan processing and reconciliation. The position also coordinates audits, liaises with the Office of Finance on budgeting, and upholds regulatory and fiscal standards to support student financial aid services and institutional goals.

• Lead and oversee fiscal and loan operations functions in the Financial Aid Office.
• Supervise operational staff responsible for managing financial aid processes.
• Manage federal and institutional fund administration, cash management, and disbursement controls.
• Ensure accurate, compliant loan processing and reconciliation practices.
• Serve as liaison with the Office of Finance regarding budgeting and fiscal matters.
• Coordinate state, federal, and institutional audits and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas), Banner, Microsoft Office, databases, and spreadsheets required.
• Considerable knowledge of financial aid regulations, policies, and university programs.
• Required experience includes planning and prioritizing multiple tasks, with some supervisory or mentoring experience; higher education experience preferred.
• Annual salary range is $55,000 to $65,000.
