Duties
* As a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST at the GS-1035-12/13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
* Identify communication needs and develop and execute communication strategies, goals, and objectives, process, and materials to meet those needs while synchronizing and integrating communication messages with those from higher headquarters.
* Conduct formal media (traditional and social) assessment and content analysis against previously developed baseline and across the competition and conflict continuum.
* Executes a comprehensive Public Affairs exercise/event integrating media relations, social media, community/Congressional relations, internal information, visual information, communication planning, and contingency/crisis response.
* Represents JPSE with a variety of installations, local government, public, civic, service, industry, educational, and media organizations.
* Develops and presents for senior officials' approval policies on the management of JPSE's mission by identifying, analyzing, and defining critical success factors, goals and objectives. GS-12 Duties will be performed in a developmental capacity. Requirements Conditions of employment

* This is a Emergency Essential position
* This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position
* A pre-employment physical/medical examination is required and may be required on a periodic basis after appointment.
* Work may require deployment to locations which involve extraordinarily difficult living conditions, excessive physical hardship, or notably unhealthful conditions.
* Deployment may require service at places in foreign areas where there exist conditions of civil insurrection, civil war, terrorism or wartime conditions which threaten physical harm or imminent danger to the health or well-being of the employee
* May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
* The position is designated by the Air Force as a Test Designated Position (TDP) under the AF Civilian Drug Testing Program. Therefore, the incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
* Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Special Sensitive (Top Secret/SCI) security clearance. Qualifications You may qualify at the GS-12/13 if you fulfill the following qualifications:
* For the GS 12 position, one year of specialized experience or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
* Executing public affairs events integrating media relations, social media, community/Congressional relations, and internal information.
* Implementing public affairs tactics, techniques, and procedures to support and amplify senior leaders' priorities, mission and organizational objectives.
* Advising top management officials in all aspects of the public affairs program.
* Making oral presentations to varied publics (local, national and international) and informing them of missions, functions and activities.
* For the GS-13 position, one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
* Executing comprehensive public affairs events integrating media relations, social media, community/Congressional relations, internal information, especially within Joint Operations.
* Implementing public affairs tactics, techniques, and procedures to support and amplify senior leaders' priorities, mission and organizational objectives.
* Advising top management officials in all aspects of the public affairs program, recommending strategies and applying new approaches to the most difficult and complex public affairs problems.
* Making oral presentations to varied publics (local, national and international) and informing them of missions, functions and activities of JPSE and its overall relationship to the national defense effort. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
