Nursing Care Partner - Outpatient

Hours:
Monday - Friday 8:30-5:00, Rotating Saturdays 8:30-Noon.
Under the direction of the clinical lead, provides care and meets patient and family needs for assigned patients in a patient care area. Reports to department leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Supports the patient intake and discharge process.
- Activities of daily living to include bathing, foley catheter care, changing, feeding, ambulating patients.
- Collection of data to include vital signs, intake and output, and growth measurements, and transfer of data to the clinical lead.
- Venipuncture for labs
- Facilitate throughput within the outpatient medical practice.
- Enter patient screening forms accurately into electronic health record system.
- Perform general administrative duties to include but not limited to faxing, scanning, filing, and copying.
- Provides developmentally appropriate care to assigned patients.
- Completes non-clinical duties to include patient transport, stocking of supplies, and cleaning of equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training designation is required at time of hire or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
- None preferred.
Education and Experience
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse program with completion of at least one semester of clinical rotation.
- Previous Nursing Care Partner experience at CHKD (within 2 years).
- Completion of the nursing student extern program at CHKD.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school program (without successful completion of the NCLEX board exam).
- Certification as a nurse assistant. Certification must be maintained.
- Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. Certification must be maintained.
Education and Experience
- None preferred.
- Exceptional patient care skills with the ability to understand and follow instructions relating to basic patient care.
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and empathetic team player who takes initiative.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent time management skills, able to shift priorities and able to work independently and problem solve in a fast paced, fluid environment.
- Possesses strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills as well as, the ability to interact with and build collegial relationships with diverse individuals.
Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working condition due to performance of certain patient care activities.
