Training Analyst
Overview
The Navy Maritime Maintenance Enterprise Solution (NMMES) is an Information Technology (IT) toolset used by NAVSEA to support ship maintenance, overhaul, repair, and modernization operations across the U.S. Navy fleet. NMMES serves over 51,000 civilian and military users worldwide at Navy Shipyards (NSY), Intermediate Maintenance Facilities (IMF), Regional Maintenance Centers (RMC), Ship Repair Facilities, and Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Centers. The NMMES Technical Refresh (NMMES-TR) program is a Defense Business System (DBS) Category I initiative that replaces, interfaces with, and modernizes aging legacy IT systems using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications and cloud-based services, implemented through agile and human-centered design principles.
Position Summary
The Training Analyst is a senior-level specialist responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive training programs for the NMMES enterprise IT systems. This position conducts research to develop and revise training courses, creates instructor and student materials, and delivers training through formal classroom instruction, workshops, seminars, and computer-based/computer-aided training (CBT/CAT). As a top-level contributor and subject matter expert, the Training Analyst provides consultation on complex training projects and may lead and direct the work of others.
This role requires extensive experience applying Instructional System Design (ISD) methodologies to support the successful deployment and adoption of Navy shore-based maintenance IT solutions across a global user community.
Training Needs Analysis and Research
- Conduct comprehensive training needs assessments and gap analyses for NMMES system users across multiple Navy facilities worldwide
- Research and analyze job tasks, system functionality, and user requirements to develop effective training solutions
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), system developers, and end-user representatives to identify training requirements
- Evaluate existing training programs and recommend improvements based on user feedback and performance metrics
- Stay current with enterprise IT systems, Navy maintenance processes, and emerging training technologies
- Develop and maintain training catalogs documenting available courses, target audiences, and learning objectives
Curriculum Development and Instructional Design
- Apply Instructional System Design (ISD) methodology and ADDIE model to design, develop, and evaluate training programs
- Develop comprehensive instructor materials including course outlines, lesson plans, facilitator guides, background materials, and training aids
- Create student materials including course manuals, workbooks, handouts, quick reference guides, job aids, and completion certificates
- Design course assessment instruments including knowledge checks, practical exercises, and course critique/evaluation forms
- Develop computer-based training (CBT) and computer-aided instruction (CAI) modules for self-paced learning
- Ensure all training materials comply with Section 508 accessibility standards and DoD training requirements
- Maintain version control and configuration management of all training documentation
Training Delivery
- Conduct formal classroom training courses for diverse audiences including shipyard personnel, maintenance technicians, and administrative staff
- Facilitate interactive workshops and seminars on NMMES system capabilities, updates, and best practices
- Deliver train-the-trainer programs to develop organic training capability at Navy facilities
- Provide on-site and remote training support during system deployments, upgrades, and technology refresh activities
- Adapt training delivery methods to accommodate various learning styles, technical proficiency levels, and operational schedules
- Coordinate training logistics including scheduling, facility setup, equipment, and material distribution
Program Management and Quality Assurance
