Technical Architect (Part-Time | Scaling to Full-Time) About the Role
We are building a multi-sided digital platform, "", designed to connect voters directly with political entities, events, and engagement opportunities.
The platform operates on a modern architecture:
- React frontend (user-facing platform)
- Word Press API backend (data, workflows, and management layer)
We are seeking a Technical Architect to work directly with the Founder to ensure the platform is structured properly, scalable, and free from system-level gaps.
This is not a standard development role. It is a systems-level position focused on architecture, logic, and execution quality.
Role OverviewThe Technical Architect will:
- translate business and product vision into clean technical structure
- enforce system rules and validation
- guide development to prevent breakage and rework
- ensure the platform scales correctly
Define and refine overall platform structure
Ensure proper interaction between:
- React frontend
- Word Press API backend
- database
Identify and correct architectural gaps
Implement and enforce:
- required field validation
- approval workflows (pending / approved / rejected)
- user role permissions
Ensure:
No incomplete data enters the system
All workflows behave predictably
- Review code and system design decisions
- Guide existing and future developers
- Reduce technical debt and rework
Ensure system consistency across:
- user flows
- dashboards
- API responses
Support:
- maintenance mode control
- data integrity
- error handling
- Work directly with the Founder (who serves as Product Architect)
- Collaborate with existing developer(s)
- Provide clear guidance without over complicating
- Strong experience with:
- React or modern frontend frameworks
- Word Press (headless/API usage preferred)
- REST APIs
- database-backed applications
- Experience building or structuring:
- SaaS platforms
- multi-user systems
- workflow-driven applications
- role-based platforms
We are looking for someone who:
- Thinks in systems, not just code
- Can identify gaps before they become problems
- Communicates clearly (technical and non-technical)
- Values simplicity and structure
- Is comfortable working closely with a founder-led product
- Not a "ticket-based developer role"
- Not limited to front-end or Word Press tasks
- Not purely Dev Ops or infrastructure
- The platform behaves predictably
- Validation rules are enforced across all flows
- The dashboard is clear and usable
- Developers work with structure and clarity
- The system is prepared to scale without breaking
- Part-time (10–20 hours per week initially)
- Flexible schedule (remote or hybrid)
- Opportunity to grow into a longer-term leadership role

- Hybrid (Norfolk, VA) available for collaboration
This is a founder-led platform build, and attention to detail is critical.
You will work closely with someone who understands the product and system deeply and values disciplined execution.
