Join Neal R. Gross and Co., a premier Court Reporting and Transcription services company based in the Washington, DC area, with clientele spanning local, state, and federal courts, as well as the House of Representatives, the Department of Defense, and various private sector clients. We are actively seeking skilled Digital Court Reporters who can accurately capture the verbatim record of legal proceedings.
This role includes both remote and in-person assignments based on client needs. Flexible availability is essential, with opportunities ranging from a few jobs monthly to 2-3 per week.
Candidates should be self-reliant and bring their own equipment and expertise to deliver exceptional results independently. PRIOR EXPERIENCE AND EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED.
Key Responsibilities:- Accurately capture clear and complete digital audio recordings of legal proceedings such as depositions, hearings, and meetings.
- Administer oaths and actively participate in legal proceedings.
- Monitor audio quality in real-time, making necessary annotations, including speaker IDs.
- Maintain a secure and organized record of proceedings, adhering to all legal and confidentiality standards.
- Timely upload and submit audio files and annotations via our secure systems.
- Coordinate with scheduling and production teams to ensure accurate and timely material delivery.
- Represent NRGCO with professionalism in all proceedings and interactions.
- Engage positively with high-level clients, including those from the Federal Government, State Government, and Private Industry.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Digital Court Reporter in legal or governmental contexts.
- Proficient in digital recording software, annotation tools, and audio file management.
- Excellent attention to detail and command of the English language.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to dynamic courtroom or deposition settings.
- Experience managing multi-speaker and technical recordings.
- Familiarity with court terminology and procedures.
- Ability to pass security screenings for access to client sites, including government buildings.
- Availability for occasional short-notice assignments.
- AAERT Certification is strongly preferred.
- Laptop or computer with digital recording software (e.g., For The Record , Liberty, Auto Script, Soniclear or equivalent).
- High-quality microphones and backup recording devices.
- Reliable internet access for file transfers and virtual proceedings.
- Secure storage for audio files and notes until submission.
This is a contract position, and compensation is based on the candidate's experience, ranging from $25 to $45 per hour.
