Research Systems Administrator

Old Dominion University is hiring a Research Systems Administrator. This role manages and supports the computing infrastructure, network environment, and enterprise systems for Sponsored Programs Administration within the ODU Research Foundation. The position provides technical support, manages user access, maintains system documentation, and collaborates on system upgrades and infrastructure improvements to ensure secure and effective technology services.

• Maintain and support computing infrastructure, network, and enterprise systems.
• Provide direct technical support including hardware, software, and system issue resolution.
• Manage user access, permissions, and support installation and configuration of workstations and networked systems.
• Develop and maintain system documentation and support helpdesk operations.
• Support system upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and operational technology initiatives.
• Required skills:
  
  Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services, Windows Server administration, computer networks, desktop operating systems, network security principles, and helpdesk support.
• Preferred knowledge: VMware, Remote Desktop Services, IIS, SQL Server, Group Policy, backup and disaster recovery tools.
• Qualifications include demonstrated IT support experience, especially with Active Directory administration and end-user support in structured organizations.
• Works within the Sponsored Programs Administration department of the ODU Research Foundation, a separate 501(c)(3) entity.
• The final candidate must complete a criminal background check.
