Manager, Motor Carrier Procurment

Location: Norfolk Va, US

Role will enhance the value obtained from the Logistics supply base by assisting the Director of Truck Procurement with executing the strategic direction of the Drayage activities in the USA and/or Canada. The individual will work closely with stakeholders to align the business objectives to deliver value and cost savings. They will collaborate with staff members to optimize overall procurement performance across the business network.

In addition, the role will investigate new developments in intermodal freight logistics, recommend cost‑reducing improvements, and negotiate commercial terms and ownership of procurement agreements with suppliers.

• Execute and manage truck procurement strategies, including carrier/vendor selection, sourcing tool selection, implementation, risk assessment, and creation of an efficient carrier network.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Intermodal, Equipment, Trade, Sales/Commercial teams) to understand client requirements and provide cost‑effective truck solutions.
• Develop and refine KPIs to measure strategic objectives, focusing on cost savings initiatives and reporting key metrics for executive management.
• Initiate and direct management of RFQ's and related project plans, and develop new cost‑reduction methods.
• Maintain strong working relationships with external suppliers, focusing on sustainable solutions.
• Support the Director of Truck Procurement with data analysis, presentations, reporting, strategic planning, contract negotiation, process improvement, sourcing technology, system updates, and business development.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and ensure compliance with company‑wide requirements.

Salary range: $74,000 – $92,000 per year. The actual salary offered will be based on a variety of factors.
