Project Planner

This individual will be responsible for the creation of project planning, scheduling and document coordination used for monitoring and reporting work force productivity and progress for all assigned projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working alongside production to create and maintain comprehensive project schedules and submit weekly updates.
  • Monitoring project budgets and job costing for all prime contractors and subcontractors, and preparing associated reports.
  • Analyzing, creating and submitting weekly Project Status Reports and line item budget updates for project reviews.
  • Meeting with Superintendents on a weekly basis to update progress and ETC runouts.
  • Analyzing Equipment matrix to ensure runouts are accurate.
  • Interpreting financial impact and contract value via financial log submittals from production.
  • Creating job overviews based on work package and bid information.
  • Creating budget builders/initial manning curve based on schedule.
  • Creating weighted progress template with production input.
  • Researching job-specific charging issues to assist upper management with analysis of potential problems.
  • Inputting information into scheduling software, excel spreadsheets and appropriate computer programs.
  • Monitoring, analyzing and reporting performance of production activities utilizing information derived from labor, material, equipment and production control systems.
  • Gathering and copying technical and reference material to support production for accomplishment of work items.
  • Assisting Project Team in resolving conflicts by collecting and analyzing information, determining differences between base line contract work, change order work and growth work.
  • Scheduling, monitoring and reviewing production progress to include materials and equipment to support production schedules.
  • Aiding in preparing daily/weekly planning/scheduling reports for all activities including but limited to daily plan of the days, items in planning, items in government review, items in negotiations, and items waiting authorization.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum five (5) or more years in a shipyard production environment preferably in US Navy repair or new construction shipyards.
  • Knowledge of resource loading, critical path method, network logic, milestone relationships and base-lining network schedules.
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of legal contracts.
  • Ability to do simple math.
  • Ability to carry out written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to problem solve, organize and prioritize work.
  • Knowledge of NAVSEA standard items.
  • Proficient with Earned Value Management System.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

This is a permanent position based out of Norfolk, VA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $85000.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
