The Lead Customs Brokerage Coordinator provides essential support to the Customs Brokerage Manager and Team Leader by assisting with daily operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing complex import documentation. This role requires in-depth customs knowledge and strong attention to detail, offering both hands-on operational execution and administrative support to the manager.
Responsibilities:- Provide day-to-day support to the Customs Brokerage Manager and Team Leader in executing and monitoring import activities
- Performs other related duties and projects as requested or assigned by the manager
- Assist the team with creating Organizations in Cargo Wise
- Support team members in troubleshooting Cargo Wise-related issues and provide insights for process improvements
- Liaison between the team and accounting for payments and disputes
- Assist the team with additional billing and accounting-related topics
- Perform duties under general supervision and report any issues that arise to the manager
- Processing Customs brokerage for air and ocean shipments of various import-related documentation for submission to U.S. Customs and PGA’s (participating Government Agencies)
- Answer both customer inquiries and inter-company inquiries
- Assist with monitoring shipment progress through the Cargo Wise Visual Board, ensuring that all statuses and milestones are updated accurately and promptly.
- Perform any other related duties and projects as requested or assigned by the Customs Brokerage Manager and/or Supervisors.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years of hands-on Customs Brokerage experience in all modes of transport.
- Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring entry-level or mid-level team members.
- Deep understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and PGA requirements.
- Customs Broker License (LCB) preferred but not required.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills; approachable, collaborative, and accountable.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with digital customs software; experience with Cargo Wise is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general comfort with digital platforms.
