Facilities Maintenance Worker I
Norfolk Airport Authority is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker I to maintain and repair airport buildings, focusing on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
Job SummaryResponsible for the maintenance and repair of all airport buildings.
Compensation & Work ScheduleShift
Schedule:
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Thursday through Monday, Wednesday off.
Starting Rate: $23.41 per hour / $48,697.96 annual.
- Assist departmental personnel with building equipment maintenance.
- Replace HVAC filters.
- Replace light bulbs.
- Perform daily equipment checks.
- Clean and restore airport facilities and equipment rooms as required.
- Conduct snow removal operations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Administer all Authority policies and guidelines.
- Use power and hand tools.
- Understand building maintenance practices and materials.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Trade school or equivalent.
- Minimum two years’ general building maintenance experience.
- Valid driver’s license and meet NAA driving record requirements.
- Possess a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge as required.
Motor vehicles, including snow removal equipment, forklift 5K, aerial work platforms; extensive use of hand and power tools; field radio and hand radio.
Physical & Mental DemandsRequires bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and working in awkward positions. Reasonable accommodations may be available for individuals with disabilities.
Working Conditions / HazardsExposure to refrigerants, natural gas, high noise levels, high speed equipment, high voltage, acids and alkalis, chemicals, compressed air, and weather‑related activities.
Driving Record RequirementsAll drivers must be at least 21 years of age, licensed for at least 3 years, with an active, non‑suspended license that meets NAA driving record standards.
