Purpose: Colonna's Shipyard is seeking a Services Electrician Supervisor to support day shift of the Temporary Services Department in our Shipyard in Norfolk, VA.

Position Summary: Position will support management with training and assignment of semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their ability, experience, and job knowledge in support and execution of production goals in ship repair/industrial fabrication operations. The position is located onsite in Norfolk, VA and will often require hours beyond a standard work week with flexible schedule availability to support production/operations.

Position may require occasional travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute routine and non-routine production duties in compliance with Company procedures and policies.
  • Perform skilled tasks related to maintenance, repair, installation/removal, new construction, etc. supporting ship repair/industrial fabrication operations.
  • Support management to facilitate daily production activities of the team and ensure employees have necessary tools, equipment, work procedures, and safe work environment.
  • Assist management with timekeeping validation, training, performance management, coaching/counselling, and supervision for employees assigned to work crews.
  • Translate broader production requirements into practical action plans to support safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals while monitoring job sites.
  • Utilize production knowledge to recommend Plan of the Day (POD) and efficiently achieve operational requirements of projects.
  • Evaluate job sites and work environments before work starts to ensure safe project set ups and efficient work evolutions.
  • Review project specifications/SOWs and support creation of requisitions for all needed materials in accordance with contract requirements and references.
  • Generate and submit production reports to management, meeting all technical/customer reporting requirements.
  • Support management in ensuring tools/resources are mobilized and demobilized from projects appropriately and update on damaged or lost equipment.
  • Initiate QA/Customer call out and attend/execute TIP inspections.
  • Serve as backup/makeup to supervisor, as needed.
  • Provide input to management and project teams to support schedule, progress, ETC/EAC updates for all projects assigned to the supervisor.
  • Install and connect temporary shore power to lighting, ships systems support equipment and alarm systems during overhaul/repair operations.
  • Install, test, maintain and remove temporary services to U.S. Navy vessels, tugs, barges, ferries, etc. during overhaul/repair operations. Temporary services may include HVAC, air and water for various uses, effluent discharge, and steam.
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, and lubricating for industrial production and processing systems.
  • Select type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders according to specifications.
  • Disconnect and reconnect motors and electrical equipment.
  • Adjust/align or replace components of motors, generators, and alternators such as bearings, centrifugal switches, brushes, diodes, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Registered Apprentice (grad) or high school diploma and at least 6 years related trade experience in the trade to be supervised.
  • At least six years of experience in the electrical field.
  • Valid driver license.
  • Ability to understand job specifications, drawings, and corresponding technical references.
  • Ability to enter and move through manholes to reach and work internally confined spaces.
  • Regular, reliable attendance.

Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory/mentoring experience (e.g., make-up supervisor).

Security Requirements:

  • Access government facilities and be DBIDS eligible.
  • Obtain and maintain DBIDS.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

Travel Requirements:

  • Minimal Travel; 10% or less.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes; no less than 20 lbs.
