Job Description
The Fitter/Fabricator will be responsible for laying out, fitting, aligning, and assembling prefabricated cast and forged components prior to welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding operations. This role involves performing fitting and machining operations such as straightening, grinding, burring, drilling, reaming, and countersinking materials to close tolerances. The Fitter/Fabricator will select equipment, set up, and lay out materials to be welded as per general instructions.
The position may also require repairing or reworking parts to restore them to required tolerances, which may have become distorted as a result of welding operations. Additionally, monitoring and verifying quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures is expected.
- Lay out, fit, align, and assemble prefabricated cast and forged components.
- Perform fitting and machining operations such as straightening, grinding, burring, drilling, reaming, and countersinking materials to close tolerances.
- Select equipment and set up materials for welding based on general instructions.
- Repair or rework parts to restore required tolerances distorted by welding operations.
- Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Expertise in measurements, drilling, tapping, brazing, and grinding.
- Ability to lay out, fit, align, and assemble components for welding and soldering operations.

- Experience in shipyard and fabrication environments.

Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a shop environment at the newly acquired facility in Charleston/Goose Creek, formerly known as W International. There are multiple shifts available, including 20 positions for the first shift and 6 positions for the second shift.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Norfolk, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.08 - $44.18/hr.
