Position: SUPPLY TECHNICIAN

You will serve as a Supply Technician in the Hazardous Material Minimization (HAZMIN) of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF.

Duties
  • You will ensure ship inventory is properly maintained and all materials meet shipboard specifications.
  • You will coordinate shipboard personnel hazardous material training.
  • You will investigate problems as they occur, recommend resolutions, and report to the chain of command.
  • You will coordinate ordering and delivery of HAZMAT materials.
  • You will train and assist with offload/disposal of excess material and the preparation of transfer documents.
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license and/or government operator permit as determined by employing command with the possibility of HAZMAT certification to transport hazardous material.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position may be coded as “key” and as such you may be required be removed from military recall status. A signed statement of understanding required.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment or clothing such as hardhats, steel-toed shoes, gloves made of a variety of material types, masks, and rubber aprons.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Incumbent must complete the Afloat HAZMAT Coordinator, HMCM Technician, and CHRIMP/ HICS Technician courses within six months of employment.
