CTR Group is seeking Non-Skid Painters for a Shipyard in Norfolk, VA. Seeking local candidates.

Pay Range: $18 - $24 per Hour plus Benefits.

SUMMARY:

Job Description:

A Non-Skid Painter specializes in preparing and applying non-skid (anti-slip) coatings to surfaces to improve traction and safety. This role is common in shipyards, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, parking structures, and military vessels such as those used by the United States Navy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, or abrasive blasting
  • Remove old coatings, rust, grease, and debris
  • Mask and protect surrounding areas before coating
  • Mix and apply non-skid coatings, epoxies, urethanes, or specialty paints
  • Apply coatings using rollers, brushes, spray equipment, or trowels
  • Ensure correct texture and thickness for slip resistance
  • Follow technical drawings, blueprints, or coating specifications
  • Inspect finished surfaces for quality, coverage, and compliance
  • Perform touch-ups and repairs as needed
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work area
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in industrial or marine painting preferred
  • Knowledge of surface preparation techniques
  • Familiarity with epoxy and non-skid coating systems
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders and safety procedures
  • Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces
  • Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Physical stamina (standing, bending, lifting 40-60 lbs)
  • Understanding of OSHA and workplace safety standards

  • Outdoor and indoor environments
  • May involve exposure to fumes, dust, and chemicals
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Apprenticeship or on-the-job training desired
  • Certification in industrial coatings (preferred but not required)
