Overview
The Planner develops, coordinates, and maintains detailed planning documentation to support navy ship repair activities. This role prepares and revises work specifications, integrates inputs from multiple stakeholders, and ensures all planning processes comply with applicable instructions, directives, and procedures. The Planner collaborates closely with internal teams and government representatives to create accurate schedules, generate advanced planning reports, and support efficient execution of maintenance and repair work.
Responsibilities- Develop, prepare, write, revise, issue, and distribute planning documents, procedures, and work items in accordance with all applicable instructions, directives, and procedures.
- Conduct ship-checks as required to verify conditions, gather data, and validate planning assumptions.
- Create Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) availabilities and detailed Work Specification Items to support ship repair and maintenance activities.
- Integrate, review, and validate the planning process with primary parties and government affiliations on a weekly basis to ensure compliance and alignment.
- Prepare advanced planning reports for dissemination to government stakeholders for review and processing.
- Conduct meetings to inform key personnel of planning updates, schedule changes, and status of work items.
- Work closely with estimators to ensure all technical, cost, and schedule information is accurately represented in an integrated planning schedule.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and groups to resolve planning conflicts and maintain a coherent, executable plan.
- Review and interpret drawings, blueprints, standard items, and specifications to ensure planning documents accurately reflect required work.
- Use the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) Planning and Execution Modules to manage, track, and update planning activities.
- US Citizenship.
- Experience working in a navy ship repair environment, with familiarity with shipboard systems and maintenance processes.
- Working knowledge of Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) Planning and Execution Modules.
- Ability to develop, write, revise, and manage planning documents, procedures, and work items in accordance with applicable instructions and directives.
- Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, standard items, and work specifications.
- Expert ability to communicate effectively with other disciplines and groups to resolve planning conflicts and maintain alignment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including the ability to prepare reports, schedules, and presentations.
- Eligibility to work in roles requiring United States citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active security clearance, and current active clearance status.
- The role primarily takes place in an office setting, with approximately 90% of the work performed in an office environment and about 10% conducted onboard ships.
- The shipboard portion of the role requires periodic ship-checks to verify conditions and support accurate planning.
- The position offers a flexible work schedule, allowing options such as starting earlier and leaving earlier, while maintaining coordination with team members and project requirements.

Permanent position based out of Norfolk, VA.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
