Salary Range: $93,013.00 To $ Annually

MHI Ship Repair & Services is a major marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration and Commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. Our shipyard is conveniently located in the Mid-Atlantic region at the port of Hampton Roads, Norfolk Virginia.

• Direct and supervise the daily activities of the Electrical Department, ensuring maximum efficiency, productivity, and quality.
• Assign personnel and Leads persons to projects based on workload, schedules, and priorities.
• Resolve day-to-day operational issues and provide guidance to supervisors and production employees.
• Coordinate work schedules with the Production Manager, other Superintendents, and subcontractors to meet project milestones.
• Estimate labor requirements and plan workflow to maximize productivity.
• Ensure machinery, tools, and equipment are properly maintained and available to support production.
• Identify opportunities to improve work processes, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency.
• Order equipment and materials necessary to support ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Conduct shipboard inspections to verify compliance with company policies, quality standards, safety requirements, housekeeping expectations, and production schedules.
• Develop and maintain departmental procedures, work instructions, and employee training materials.
• Foster positive employee relations by providing coaching, mentoring, and addressing performance concerns when necessary.
• Recommend hiring, staffing adjustments, promotions, and disciplinary actions to meet production requirements.
• Establish departmental goals and performance expectations and conduct employee performance evaluations and training.

• Maintain required departmental reports and production records.
• Utilize hand tools, testing equipment, and instruments associated with the electrical trade when needed.
• Apply electrical engineering principles and technical expertise to solve production and operational challenges.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical school, vocational training, or trade certification in electrical systems preferred.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of electrical experience in ship repair, shipbuilding, industrial, marine, or heavy manufacturing environments, including progressively responsible supervisory experience.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical installation, repair, testing, safety practices, and applicable industry standards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
