The Open Spaces Society has been campaigning to protect rights to common land, village greens and public paths for more than 160 years. It is Britain’s oldest national conservation organisation. We are looking for additional trustees to join our enthusiastic board of seven members. The role is part-time (around five hours a month) and is mostly homebased, although attendance in person is expected at our July AGM.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

Help BBOWT to share conservation advice and skills, participate in community events and celebrations, and learn new skills through attending talks and events.

BBOWT works in the community to inspire people everywhere and empower them to take action for nature. Our teams organise events and responds to requests to participate in other organisations’ events, such as: local fetes, evening talks, guided walks etc. As an Event Assistant Volunteer, you will support the member of staff who is delivering the event. You would be involved in a wide variety of work for example: chatting with participants about wildlife, car park attendant, making wildflower seed ‘bombs’ with members of the public, helping to set up a talk, plus many other vital tasks involved in event delivery.
No experience or qualifications needed other than an enthusiasm for sharing our mission and a willingness to learn more about wildlife. This is a very social role, so an interest in working with people is required. Dates/times are varied and sporadic, so we would contact you to request your help when an event is planned in your area. for further info
