Overview

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital’s Vascular Stepdown/Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) – 9 Kaufman – seeks a Registered Nurse. The 24‑bed unit specializes in vascular surgeries, telemetry, and renal/pancreas transplant patients. The RN delivers nursing care per the nursing process, adheres to standards of practice and professional performance, and supports patient teaching and health promotion. A sign‑on bonus of up to $15,000 is available for qualified candidates, and relocation assistance may be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
  • Deliver patient teaching and health promotion for patients on monitored beds, including telemetry and graft monitoring.
  • Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team, including RNs, LPNs, NCPs, UAs, and CSAs.
  • Participate in the 11‑week Transition to Practice program and the 6‑month residency for new graduates.
  • Maintain a 1:4 RN‑to‑patient ratio, ensuring adequate monitoring and timely interventions.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nursing license (required).
  • Education:

    Diploma or Degree in Nursing. Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • No prior experience required; new graduate nurses are welcome to apply.
