AboutThe Role
As the Manager of Nursing and Patient Care Services, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth, effective, and compassionate delivery of care within your designated clinical areas. You’ll lead by example—modeling best practices, promoting collaboration, and driving performance aligned with Sentara’s mission of safety, quality, and patient-centered service.
This manager would be responsible for Patient Care Supervisors, Bed Tower, 24/7 Observation Unit, Transition Unit, Transition to Home/Discharge Lounge and Telemetry covering about 80-100 FTEs.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the daily operations of assigned units or departments
- Foster a high-performing nursing team through coaching, mentorship, and support
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with physicians, leaders, and staff to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction

Required Qualifications- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in a hospital or acute care setting
- Prior leadership or charge nurse experience
- Critical Care Experience
- Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration (a plus)

Located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
