Sentara is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the High‑Risk Labor & Delivery Unit at Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. The position is full time, night shift (Third shift). A sign‑on bonus up to $20,000 is offered to qualified candidates.
Job DescriptionThe RN will provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process and industry standards. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, care coordination, teaching, health promotion, evaluation, ethical and culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN is cross‑trained to scrub, circulate, recover, and labor/deliver, supporting a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.
Education- RN Degree (REQUIRED)
- Virginia RN or Compact Multi‑State License (REQUIRED)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
- NEP – NRP within 6 months of hire
- PALS within 6 months of hire
- Critical Care / IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire
- Emergency Care – ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire
- Oncology Care – ONS/ONCC or Sentara‑approved Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire
- Women’s Care – Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire
- Inpatient Pediatrics – PALS within 6 months of hire
- Previous Labor & Delivery experience (STRONGLY PREFERRED)
