Travel RN Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignment at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This role involves caring for patients with diagnoses such as congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, renal failure, stroke, pneumonia, wounds, and alcohol‑related conditions. The nurse will work with a nurse‑to‑patient ratio of 1:3‑5 and may float to Telemetry or Med Surg units with ratios of 1:6‑7.
Required clinical skills include BIPAP, nurse‑driven diuretic protocols, peritoneal dialysis, and IV Glucommander. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is recommended.
- Provide nursing care to PCU patients within the specified nurse‑to‑patient ratio.
- Float to Telemetry or Med Surg units as needed.
- Apply BIPAP, diuretic protocols, peritoneal dialysis, and IV Glucommander therapies.
- Document patient care in the electronic medical record system.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure high quality patient care.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license and active license status.
- At least 18 months of PCU or Stepdown experience within the last 3 years.
- Certifications:
BLS‑AHA, ACLS‑AHA, CERT‑NIH Stroke Scale. - Experience caring for patients with the listed conditions.
- Ability to float to Telemetry or Med Surg units.
- Availability for holidays, weekends, and float shifts.
- Compact RN license in‑hand.
