Position:
Cath Holding Department / Registered Nurse
The Sentara Heart Hospital, a 112‑bed care facility, ranks #2 for Cardiology services and Heart Surgery in Virginia and #24 nationally for best heart programs. The unit is open Monday‑Friday 6a‑11p and closed on major holidays.
- The 30‑bed unit prepares and recovers patients for procedures in the Cath lab, EP lab, Minor Procedure Room, and Cardiac OR for surgery.
- Average patient volume each day: 40‑50 patients.
- Procedures include Cardiac Catheterization (interventional and diagnostic), Electrophysiology procedures such as cardiac ablations, cardioversions, surgery, ICDs, Pacemakers, etc.
Registered Nursing (RN) responsibilities: perform a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, evaluation) along with professional performance standards (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, environmental health).
Education- Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or MSN (preferred)
- Virginia RN License (Virginia or Compact/Multi‑State Eligible)
- BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
- ACLS in Critical Care/IMCU required within 1 year of hire
- None required
- Previous healthcare experience is preferred
