Overview
Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for Norfolk General Hospital's Medical Surgical Unit in Norfolk, Virginia. The RN is responsible for providing competent nursing care using the nursing process, maintaining professional standards of practice, and ensuring quality patient outcomes.
Location & ShiftThird (Night) Shift, Full Time.
The unit includes a 42‑bed Adult Surgical Unit with telemetry monitoring and an average patient stay of 3‑4 days.
Unit DetailsThis unit specializes in care of patients undergoing Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, GYN Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma Overflow. Additional beds are designated for Epilepsy monitoring and a Living Kidney Donor Transplant Unit.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe RN performs assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Duties include teaching, health promotion, coordination of care, ethical practice, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Virginia RN License (required)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire
Experience
Prior RN experience preferred

The 525‑bed tertiary care facility hosts the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads and serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
