Registere Nurse position in the high‑risk Labor & Delivery Unit at Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. The unit is beacon award‑winning and offers a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment where nurses are cross‑trained to scrub, circulate, recover, and labor/deliver, providing comprehensive surgical and obstetrical care.
Responsibilities- Provide competent nursing care using critical thinking and the nursing process.
- Adhere to standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion and evaluation.
- Apply standards of professional performance such as ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
- Deliver care in a high‑acuity environment with support from physicians, residents, specialists, techs, and administrative staff.
Registered Nursing (RN) degree required. BSN or MSN preferred. Must hold a Virginia RN or Compact Multi‑State License.
Certifications- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.
- NRP within 6 months of hire.
- PALS within 6 months of hire.
- Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire (if applicable).
- Emergency Care ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire (if applicable).
- Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara‑approved Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire (if applicable).
- Women’s Care – Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months (if applicable).
- Inpatient Pediatrics – PALS within 6 months (if applicable).
Previous Labor & Delivery experience strongly preferred.
