OverviewThe Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care - teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
This 42-bed unit specializes in the care of Adult Surgical Patients. Registered Nurses are assigned to PODs to assist patients recovering from surgeries:
Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, GYN Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma Overflow. While working in this unit you will care for patients that have renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure for a well‑rounded nursing experience. This is a telemetry‑monitored unit. The average patient stay is 3-4 days. This unit also has 6 beds that are for Epilepsy monitoring and is the Living Kidney Donor Transplant Unit.
- RN Degree REQUIRED
- Virginia RN License REQUIRED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire
- Prior RN experience PREFERRED
