• At Sentara Family Maternity Centers, from the start of labor to the first days with your newborn, it’s your baby, your birth, your bond, your way. That means our dedicated team of physicians, midwives, nurses, lactation consultants, and volunteer doulas will do our best to accommodate your preferences - whether it’s natural birth, pain management, skin-to-skin contact, delayed cord clamping, rooming in or infant nutrition.

We are uniquely able to accommodate a wide range of pregnancy and birth experiences. We have the area’s only dedicated high-risk antepartum unit, where we care for mothers with the most complicated pregnancies, and a 57-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for babies who need a higher level of care. At our Family Medical Center, we do whatever we can to keep you comfortable and make your vision for your birth a reality.

As the RN Unit Coordinator , you will serve as a key clinical leader on the Mother Baby Unit , supporting both staff and patients while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. You’ll balance bedside nursing with leadership responsibilities—guiding workflow, mentoring peers, and helping ensure high-quality, compassionate care for every patient.

• Coordinating daily unit operations and nursing care delivery
• Assisting with staff scheduling, onboarding, and mentoring
• Serving as a clinical resource and problem-solver
• Leading by example with patient advocacy and evidence-based care
• Supporting continuous quality improvement and safety initiatives

• BSN required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
• Current RN licensure in Virginia or a compact state
• Minimum 2 years of clinical RN experience
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership potential
• A passion for mentoring, leading teams, and delivering excellent patient care
