LPN – Emergency Department | Level I Trauma Center
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring full‑time Licensed Practical Nurses for our Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center. Position Status:
Full‑time, 36 hours per week
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
Weekends:
Every other weekend availability required
Holiday Rotation:

At Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Emergency Department nurses care for patients in one of the region’s most advanced and fast‑paced clinical environments. Our 53‑bed Emergency Department is equipped to manage a wide range of medical emergencies, with approximately 10% of cases related to trauma.
As part of a Level I Trauma Center, you will work alongside experienced emergency medicine providers, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high‑quality care when patients need it most. Nurses in this department gain exposure to complex emergency, trauma, cardiac, stroke, critical care, and specialty cases while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative environment.
Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award, honoring exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.
Education Requirements- Degree or diploma in Licensed Practical Nursing required
- LPN license required
- Prior LPN experience preferred
- Emergency Department experience preferred
- Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply
