Groundskeeper Crew Leader

Overview

The Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking a Groundskeeper Crew Leader to supervise ground maintenance activities. The Groundskeeper Crew Leader keeps logs and records to monitor equipment maintenance and activities. The Groundskeeper Crew Leader manages the maintenance of grounds and landscaping, performs and supervises the daily maintenance of equipment, and supervises emergency response.

Departmental Hiring Starting Salary: $48,666

• Performs all aspects of bed maintenance to include chemical spraying, mulching, hedge and shrub trimming, tree pruning, mowing, weed trimming and edging.
• Supervises and trains employees and temporary workers.
• Job plans and projects future maintenance requirements.
• Supervises ground maintenance activities by scheduling, training and assigning duties, taking service requests, completing time sheets, keeping work records and logs, conducting performance evaluations and conducting daily team meetings.
• Supervises emergency response.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to less than high school or equivalency.

One year s experience in groundskeeper and supervisory or lead experience.

• Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Pesticide Applications with Certificate 3A & 3B endorsements
• Commercial Class A or B Driver’s License
• Valid Driver s License
• CPR/First Aid Certification within six months of employment.
