Safety Coordinator

Tidewater Staffing is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to support our safety department across shipyard, industrial, warehouse, and client locations throughout Hampton Roads.
This role combines fieldwork and office responsibilities, assisting with safety compliance, employee training, incident investigations, documentation, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities- Conduct safety inspections at shipyards, warehouses, industrial facilities, and client jobsites.
- Assist with accident, injury, and near‑miss investigations.
- Maintain OSHA logs and other required safety documentation.
- Coordinate respirator fit testing, physicals, drug screenings, and medical surveillance requirements.
- Help ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Assist with new hire safety orientations and ongoing employee safety training.
- Maintain employee certifications including OSHA, TWIC, DBIDS, respirator clearances, and other client‑required documentation.
- Communicate with recruiters, operations staff, clients, and field employees regarding safety requirements and compliance.
- Assist with client audits, inspections, and safety meetings.
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate safety records.
- Support emergency response planning and other workplace safety initiatives.
- Perform additional administrative and field safety duties as assigned.
- 3-5+ years of safety experience in shipyard, industrial, manufacturing, construction, or warehouse environments.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work both in an office and industrial jobsite environment.
- OSHA 30 Certification
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Experience conducting incident investigations.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation processes.
- Familiarity with DBIDS, TWIC, respirator programs, and maritime safety requirements.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Walk and stand for extended periods.
- Climb stairs and ladders as needed.
- Lift up to 40 pounds.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, gloves, and safety footwear.
