Your Mission

Support mission‑focused quality assurance efforts in Norfolk, Virginia by reviewing contract work specifications, performing product and process surveillance, documenting inspection and audit results, and helping ensure contractor quality organizations meet required standards for U.S. Navy maintenance and ship‑related work.

What You'll Do

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will support contract quality oversight through the following responsibilities:

  • Review contract work specifications to ensure quality requirements are specified.
  • Develop and execute product and process surveillance, inspection, and audit plans.
  • Record surveillance, inspection, and audit results and maintain a database of results.
  • Draft formal feedback to contractor quality organizations based on surveillance, inspection, and audit results.
  • Develop and maintain matrices, graphs, metrics, and written reports using common computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite and U.S. Navy proprietary software programs.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications / Resume Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with courses in quality engineering, systems engineering, or statistical application. A degree can be substituted with five (5) years’ practical experience in quality engineering, systems engineering, or statistical application.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing work specification review in accordance with Joint Fleet Maintenance 4E specification and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Standard Items.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in U.S. Navy contract clauses, ship specifications, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), American Society for Quality (ASQ), ISO 9001 Quality System requirements, NAVSEA Standard Items, military specifications, industrial standards, contract drawings, shipbuilding practices, and associated industrial techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting U.S. Navy maintenance, ship repair, shipbuilding, or waterfront quality assurance activities.
  • Working knowledge of contractor quality organizations and formal corrective feedback processes.
  • Experience developing quality metrics, trend data, graphs, matrices, databases, and management‑level reporting products.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance surveillance, inspection, audit planning, and results documentation.
  • Current or prior familiarity with Norfolk‑area Navy or ship maintenance environments.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and similar resources.
