Quality and EH&S Manager Salaried Exempt Position Home Location

Norfolk, VA

Position Overview

The Quality and EH&S Manager is responsible for leading, implementing, and continuously improving the organization’s quality assurance, environmental health and safety (EH&S), programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, customer, shipyard, and internal requirements while driving a culture of safety, quality, and continuous workforce development.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Quality Assurance & Control
    • Establish, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS)
    • Ensure compliance with contract specifications and workmanship standards
    • Conduct inspections, audits, and non-conformance tracking
    • Coordinate with customers and third-party inspectors
    • Maintain quality records and audit documentation
    • Guide and lead inspector personnel
  • Safety (EHS) Leadership & Compliance
    • Provide leadership and oversight of all company safety programs and policies
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NAVSEA, shipyard, customer, and site-specific requirements
    • Develop and enforce Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and site safety plans
    • Conduct safety training, orientations, and toolbox talks
    • Lead incident, near-miss, and injury investigations and corrective actions
    • Serve as primary liaison with shipyards and regulatory safety representatives
    • Utilize the resources of our insurance partnerships to strengthen our safety programs
    • Guide and lead inspector personnel
  • Program, Operational & Risk Support
    • Integrate safety and quality requirements into project planning
    • Support project kick-offs, reviews, and closeouts
    • Provide safety and quality metrics and reporting to leadership
    • Support risk assessments for new projects
Experience & Other Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Industrial Safety, Quality, Engineering, or related field OR 5-8 years of progressive experience in a related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and industrial/shipyard safety compliance
  • Experience in government contracting or shipyard environments preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and background screening
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DBIDS and shipyard access
