General FunctionThe Apprentice Optician attracts and retains customers by delivering an exceptional customer experience, fostering customer retention, and promoting associate/doctor satisfaction. The Apprentice Optician demonstrates all aspects of the Neighborhood Eye Care Experience.
MajorDuties & Responsibilities
- Greets customers promptly and demonstrates urgency in service.
- Determines the purpose of a customer's visit, explains how to shop at Pearle Vision, and escorts them to the appropriate area.
- Under guidance, reviews prescriptions and identifies special needs.
- Consistently demonstrates adherence to NECE.
- Performs work accurately and retreats quickly to resolve customer issues, focusing on solutions.
- Uses the Eyewear Consultation Folder to educate customers on products, guarantees, and services.
- Under guidance and instruction from an Optician:
- Takes and records measurements, adjusts or fits eyewear precisely, and ensures finished eyewear meets standards.
- Troubleshoots vision issues and determines the correct course of action.
- Demonstrates good product knowledge and describes features and benefits of lenses and frames.
- Assists customers in selecting frames and lenses that suit their needs.
- Operates the software system to input customer and prescription information accurately.
- Accurately operates the cashier terminal, processes payments, and follows security procedures.
- Communicates expected delivery dates to customers.
- Maintains store appearance, displays, and inventory organization.
- Reports potential safety hazards to management.
- Demonstrates safe work habits.
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Registered in a State licensure program (where applicable) or equivalent schooling.
- Previous optical and retail experience.
- Knowledge of State/Prov licensing and guidelines.
- Knowledge of current optical theory and practices.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Awareness of current fashion trends.
- Interpersonal skills (friendly, caring, patient).
- Sales skills.
- Knowledge of store merchandise.
- Familiarity with cash register, computers, and calculators.
- Prior sales training.
Employee pay is determined by geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, employees may receive a competitive bonus or commission plan. Benefits may include health care, retirement savings, paid time off/vacation, and employee discounts.
