Key Account Specialist – Rheumatology (Commission) – Pharmaceutical Sales.

Job Details

Locations:
Hampton, Norfolk, Richmond, Virginia, USA. The role requires frequent travel throughout the territory, including Hampton, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Charlottesville.

Key Account Specialist Responsibilities
  • Achieve sales goals for the Rheumatology portfolio, delivering market share growth and other key metrics within the assigned geography.
  • Influence decision makers and influencers within the customer base—physicians, specialists, pharmacists—to support product use by developing and delivering a targeted sales message based on accurate clinical information.
  • Execute local marketing strategies, leveraging resources and collaborating with company team members to enhance business results and customer loyalty.
  • Secure access to promoted products and sell them in targeted Rheumatology, Gastroenterology and Dermatology institutions by establishing long‑term relationships with residents, fellows, attending physicians, pharmacists, and mandating coordination of academic sales strategies.
  • Drive product access, acceptance and usage in academic accounts; understand IV and subcutaneous product flow to ensure ease of access and fulfillment.
  • Create, implement and evaluate strategies to develop fellows, residents, and key opinion leaders within assigned institutions.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate effective business plans for each assigned institution.
  • Champion collaboration across the marketplace, both internally and externally.
  • Maintain administrative functions such as call reporting, safe driving, expense accounting, written and oral communications, and represent the company at scientific conventions and educational programs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of successful pharmaceutical, biologic/biotech sales experience, including a minimum of five (5) years of specialty rheumatology sales experience.
  • Valid driver’s license issued in the United States.
  • Willingness to travel, including weekends and overnight stays.
  • Working knowledge of immunology, dermatology, rheumatology, and/or gastroenterology.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of reimbursement, payer, provider and infusion operations.
  • Prior experience managing complex reimbursement issues.
  • Experience in project‑oriented selling within a high incentive and individual performance culture, along with documented successful sales performance (high growth, results vs. plan).
