Summary
Salesperson selling new and used vehicles to customers, ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction. Responsible for meeting sales goals, conducting demonstrations, negotiating pricing, and completing sales paperwork.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Meet dealership sales goals.
- Greet customers and determine desired make, type, and quality of vehicle.
- Explain vehicle features and demonstrate operation during showroom or test drive.
- Suggest and present optional equipment for purchase.
- Compute and quote sales price, including tax, trade‑in allowance, and discount.
- Complete all paperwork accompanying vehicle sales, including sales slip or contract.
- Arrange for delivery, registration, and title of vehicle.
- Research availability of models and optional equipment.
- Engage in business development activities.
- Address customer concerns and resolve issues.
- Maintain Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) at or above company standards.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
- Participate in required training sessions.
- Record hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system.
- Follow Safeguards rules, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Demonstrate the company’s core values.
- Respond to other duties as assigned.
- Education – High School Diploma or GED (preferred);
Associate, Bachelor, or higher degrees, especially in Accounting, Automotive, Business, Human Resources, or Information Technology. - Experience – Up to 3 years of sales and/or customer service experience (preferred); 3–5 years; 5+ years.
- Valid driver’s license and Automotive Salesperson license.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn web applications for customer management.
- Excellent communication skills – ability to understand and follow instructions, communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.
- Attendance reliability – regular, predictable attendance; scheduled shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability – ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform frequent movement around the company facilities and customer test drives.
- Strong verbal, writing, math, and reasoning skills.
The commercial salesperson position offers a base salary of $35,360 annually plus commission based on closed sales value with no upper limit, and a production bonus that may range from $0.00 to an unlimited amount depending on performance.
