Job Description

Student Worker – LASB Laboratory Technician, Nevada State University. The student worker will help set up labs and support students performing lab experiments.

Core Responsibilities
  • Help set up laboratory experiments.
  • Help prepare chemical reagents and biological media according to specific formulas.
  • Help prepare specimens and samples for labs.
  • Help maintain and operate common laboratory devices such as pH meters, centrifuges, and micropipettes.
  • Provide support to instructors during lab activities in terms of materials and supplies.
  • Help update and maintain inventory.
  • Attend safety training.
  • Promote safe practices while experiments are being conducted.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of lab classrooms and storage rooms.
  • Help maintain appropriate labeling and disposal of both biological and chemical wastes.
  • Help maintain cadaver labs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Good academic standing and a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Enrolled as a degree‑seeking student with at least 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State University.
  • Ability to work evenings.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Completed college‑level lab science coursework.
  • Completed biology, chemistry, or other lab science coursework at Nevada State University.
Work Hours

19.5 hours per week.

Hourly Rate

$14.00 per hour.
