Armed Security Supervisor - Hospital Operations Lead

Overview

Sentara Health is hiring a Supervisor, Security - Armed for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This is a full‑time evening shift position. The primary schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Weekend shifts may be required during critical staffing periods, inclement weather, or emergency situations.

• Oversee the operations and success of the security department, supporting the security manager in ensuring safety.
• Exercise discretion when employing the weapon, using it only in extreme situations when all non‑violent options are exhausted.
• Lead and supervise staff, coordinate daily operations, and ensure quality service.
• Schedule staff, resolve customer service issues, manage resources, and contribute to goal achievement.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).
• Associate’s Degree (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (required).
• Virginia DCJS – Armed Officer Certificate within 90 days of hire (required).
• Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification by the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety within 90 days of hire (required).
• Four years of security experience (required).
