Job SummaryOversight of Asset Protection and Safety (APS) functions at Navy Exchange Service Command and Navy Hospitality Group facilities, ensuring protection of property, employees and guests. Maintains records management and certifications required by Naval law and Standard Operating Procedures. Trains staff in emergency procedures and implements accident and fire prevention measures.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintains physical security and safety of assigned facilities by adhering to site‑specific operating procedures and utilizing Access and Key Control systems, CCTV, EAS, fire and intrusion detection systems, ERP, Anti‑Terrorism Force Protection, and HPCON measures. Patrols, surveys premises, parking lots, sidewalks, etc., to prevent theft, fraud, waste, or abuse, and addresses potential safety issues. Provides guest assistance, including room‑access assistance. Prepares APS reports on incidents, accident reports, and notifies chain of command.
Maintains APS documentation for investigations, audits, and discrepancy reports. Assists in investigations, operational assessments, and reviews per training and APS Manual. Responds to accidents and emergencies, assists guests and associates, contacts law enforcement or base officials as needed. Exercises diplomacy in challenging situations. Checks identification during FPCON, ensures authorized access. Recommends revisions to improve physical security or safety, reports hazards, ensures functioning of alarms and security systems, and reports potential fire or safety hazards.
Works under supervision of APS Supervisor, receives guidance and reviews work for compliance. Provides service information to guests and directs them as required. Performs related duties as assigned.
Overnight position scheduled 10:00 pm – 6:00 am. No experience, training or education required.
Evaluation of CandidatesAll guards are expected to bring alertness, tact, integrity, and a willingness to learn guard rules, regulations, laws, and administrative procedures. Person‑to‑person contact is essential. Ability to communicate effectively is important to continued success.
