Heavy Civil Carpenter

What You’ll Do- Construct, set, and align forms for duct banks and other concrete structures.
- Place, consolidate, and finish concrete to meet required grades, textures, and tolerances.
- Install conduit and embedded items according to plans and specifications.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and concrete finishing equipment.
- Strip, clean, and prep formwork for reuse.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Work closely with crew members, operators, and supervisors to keep production efficient and high‑quality.
- Monitor and maintain proper concrete curing conditions.
- At least 2 years of experience in concrete forming and finishing within heavy civil or utility construction.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of safe tool use and construction practices.
- Comfort working in confined spaces and around underground structures.
- Commitment to producing quality work and maintaining a safe jobsite.
- Experience in heavy civil construction and carpentry.
- Proficiency with carpentry and concrete tools.

This role is hands‑on and outdoors. You’ll work on active construction sites with exposure to weather, noise, and heavy equipment. PPE is required at all times.
You should be prepared for:
- Working days, nights, or weekends depending on project needs.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tight or awkward spaces.
- Entering and exiting excavations and working at ground level.
- Performing physical tasks in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind).
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
