Position: Construction Electrician Instructor New Norfolk, VA

Compensation: Up to $40/hour + $2,500 sign‑on bonus

About the Role

The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) is seeking experienced Electricians, Construction Electricians, and Electrical Trades Professionals to join our team as instructors. This role provides classroom and hands‑on lab instruction in core electrical concepts and construction trade practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach electrical trades classes on a regularly scheduled basis
  • Create a welcoming and engaging learning environment for students
  • Deliver hands‑on instruction in classroom and lab settings
  • Assist with curriculum development and course material preparation
  • Maintain classroom tools, lab equipment, and instructional materials
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
  • Submit evaluations, reports, and required documentation on time
  • Support student retention and academic success initiatives
  • Participate in instructor training, faculty meetings, and professional development
  • Assist with equipment and supply inventory management
  • Communicate student attendance concerns and performance issues to leadership
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized training environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Vocational, technical, or construction‑related training preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the electrical or construction trades field
  • Experience as a Construction Electrician, Commercial Electrician, Industrial Electrician, or Electrical Technician preferred
  • Previous vocational training or teaching experience is a plus

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and construction safety
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven educational environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem‑solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Share Point
  • Campus Nexus experience is a plus
  • Availability to support occasional evening, weekend, or travel requirements

Certifications & Licenses

  • OSHA 10‑Hour Safety Certification within 6 months of hire
  • CPR Certification current or obtained within 3 months of hire
  • NCCER Certification within 6 months of hire
