Pipefitter - Per Diem

Position: Pipefitter - Per Diem Offered
Trillium Construction is seeking experienced Commercial Pipe fitters for an immediate start on a large-scale commercial construction project in Norfolk, Virginia.

This is a long-term opportunity expected to last up to one year for skilled pipe fitters with strong layout and installation experience.

The primary scope of work will involve the layout, fabrication, installation, and assembly of piping systems associated with cooling towers, chilled water systems, and other mechanical piping systems throughout the facility. Candidates must be highly proficient in reading blueprints, interpreting drawings, and independently laying out work with minimal supervision.

Pay rate is $53.17/hour plus $120/day per diem for days worked. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (40 hours per week). As the project progresses, the schedule is expected to increase to six 10-hour days per week. This is a long-term project expected to last up to one year.

Job Responsibilities:

-Perform layout and installation of chilled water piping systems
-Perform layout and installation of cooling tower piping systems
-Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, isometric drawings, specifications, and mechanical plans
-Measure, mark, and lay out piping runs with a high degree of accuracy
-Install carbon steel, stainless steel, and various mechanical piping systems as required
-Cut, thread, bevel, groove, fit, and prepare pipe for installation
-Install valves, strainers, pumps, supports, hangers, expansion joints, and related mechanical equipment
-Assemble and fit piping systems according to project specifications and industry standards
-Coordinate pipe routing to avoid conflicts with other trades and existing building systems
-Verify elevations, grades, dimensions, and equipment locations before installation
-Install pipe supports, seismic bracing, and hangers in accordance with project requirements
-Assist with equipment setting and alignment as needed
-Perform field measurements and verify dimensions before fabrication and installation
-Work with welders and other trades to ensure proper fit-up and system installation
-Participate in pressure testing, system flushing, and commissioning activities
-Maintain quality workmanship while meeting project schedules and productivity goals
-Follow all site-specific safety procedures and maintain a clean work area

Requirements:
-Verified commercial pipe fitting experience required
-Extensive layout experience is required and will be heavily relied upon throughout the project
-Ability to independently perform piping layout from blueprints and mechanical drawings
-Strong understanding of chilled water systems, cooling tower systems, and commercial mechanical piping
-Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and isometric drawings
-Experience installing large-diameter piping and mechanical systems preferred
-Knowledge of pipe elevations, offsets, rolling offsets, and field layout calculations
-Ability to accurately measure and fit pipe for installation
-Must possess all tools necessary to perform pipe fitting duties
-Must have dependable transportation and maintain reliable attendance
-Must wear all required PPE at all times while on site
-Must pass all pre-employment requirements
