NSU- Building Maintenance Tech Multi

Norfolk State University's Department of Facilities Management provides a campus environment that is conducive to working and learning through systematic maintenance, repair, and renovation of campus buildings, facilities, and infrastructure.

• Responsible for all general maintenance to Residential Life buildings and major mechanical systems.
• Performs daily inspections of all Residential Life buildings and housing facilities on campus such as maintenance of residential buildings and occasional grounds maintenance.
• Performs daily inspections of all residential life buildings, major mechanical systems to include HVAC, plumbing and minor electrical issues; perform and/or assist in preventative maintenance on all HVAC related systems.
• Responds to work orders to make minor repairs to appliances (e.g., electric ranges, plumbing problems and refrigeration issues).
• Performs minor building cosmetic repairs and furniture adjustments; responds to work orders to include light bulb changing, exit lights and replacement of air filters, carpentry, masonry, and painting.
• Responds to move‑in and move‑out furniture adjustments.
• Reviews and responds to work orders in a timely manner.
• Ability to lift 51–75 pounds unassisted; requires frequent walking, standing, and bending.
• Ability to respond to emergencies, both before and after business hours.

• Work requires knowledge equivalent to a high school diploma or GED or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in building maintenance repair, HVAC.
• Skilled in the use of various tools, including power tools, masonry, carpeting, and painting equipment.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

• Certification in building maintenance discipline, to include HVAC certification.
