This role supports our Norfolk, VA branch location, serving customers throughout the greater Norfolk, VA area.
OverviewThe Fire Alarm Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our Smart Buildings. Responsibilities include installation, programming, startup, and commissioning of state‑of‑the‑art fire alarm equipment, including fire safety, mass notification, detectors, and field peripherals.
Responsibilities- Assist with the commissioning of new fire alarm systems on construction sites to ensure seamless integration.
- Assist with testing and inspecting existing fire alarm systems.
- Plan work with a mentor, Lead Technician, and Team Leader.
- Complete commissioning within planned timelines.
- Submit accurate time and expense logs.
- Work overtime when needed.
- Electro‑mechanical experience (from a previous role or education) and user PC/software skill; proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Willing and able to differentiate types/colors of wire; use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet; carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
- Obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level 1 within 18 months.
- Be 18 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license with limited violations, and meet eligibility requirements to participate in Siemens’ fleet vehicle program.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
- High school diploma or state‑recognized GED;
Associate degree in electronics or related field preferred. - Obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level II within 18 months.
- Ability to read and understand design and construction documents.
$42,340 – $72,583 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
