About the Role

HII is seeking an experienced Electrician/Deck Electrician to support shipyard operations in Hampton Roads, VA. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and distribution networks aboard naval and commercial vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair shipboard electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and control circuits.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Pull, terminate, and label electrical cables and wiring throughout shipboard spaces.
  • Test and troubleshoot electrical systems using appropriate test equipment.
  • Perform switchboard, motor, and electrical panel installations and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with other trades to support integrated system installations.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and naval specifications.
  • Follow all shipyard electrical safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of shipboard or industrial electrical experience; marine environment.
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment (multimeters, meggers, etc.).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • High school diploma or GED required; electrical license or certification a plus.
  • Must be willing to undergo background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and extended schedules as required.
  • Clean driving record required.
Work Environment
  • Shipyard and industrial settings
  • Exposure to noise, heat, cold, confined spaces, and marine/industrial hazards
  • PPE required at all times
